Before Installation
Before installing Shield Firewall, please read installation instructions carefully.
Please make sure that your personal computer meets the minimal system requirements. (If you are unsure please cancel your installation and visit our website at www.pcss.com.)
Consider the Following before Installing the Product
Installing
Shield Firewall is very easy; installation wizard will guide you through the process step by step.
Uninstall any Other Firewall Programs
- Click the Start
button.
- Open the Control Panel
by:
- In Windows XP, just click the Control Panel.
- Otherwise, click Settings then click the Control Panel.
- Double click Add or Remove Programs.
| Important! Before installing the product, make sure to print out the License Key Code provided to you via email. If you do not have the Key Code or the Download you can go to www.pcsecurityshield.com and click on “Key Code and Download Center” link. Please use your order number or email address to obtain your “keycodes”. |

Installing Shield Firewall
STEP 1: Uninstall Other Firewall Programs
To install, open the Shield Deluxe setup dialog box using one of these methods:

STEP 4: Location Destination Folder

The Shield Firewall 2008 application will install in the “C” drive. The “C” drive is the default setting.

Select “I accept the terms of the Lincense Agreement”.
Click on “Next”to continue.

STEP 5: Set up Status Box
- A setup status dialogue box is displayed. You will see a progress bar indicating that files are being installed..

STEP 6: License Configuration
- This screen appears only when license is not already activated. Now SHIELD FIREWALL comes with lifetime license on installation itself and so you do not have to activate it again. It does implicit activation and in that process generates a unique id that it sends to a SHIELD FIREWALL server. If you wish to sign up for
news letter and want to give your email id, you can enter that here. To receive news about Shield Firewall products check the box stating "Sign me up for news about SHIELD FIREWALL products", if you don't wish to receive any news from SHIELD FIREWALL uncheck the box.

STEP 7: Configuration
- We recommend “Basic” mode
- Click “Next” to continue.

STEP 8: Restart your system
- Restart your computer to complete installation.
- Click on “Finish”.

STEP 9: After Installation
- After installation, the Shield Firewall icon will be displayed in the System Tray and Desktop. To start the Shield Firewall program, double-click on either icon and the management interface will open.
- Your computer is automatically protected by the firewall every time you start it. You do not have to explicitly start the firewall to protect your computer. The start screen of the firewall appears every time you re-start your computer.
- If you choose not to show the application window upon system start-up by unchecking this setting inProgram Settings under Advanced Configuration. Via the main window, the Shield Firewall is administered. You find information on the main window and on administering the Shield Firewall in Firewall Summary, Firewall Activity and Firewall Security.

If you need to uninstall Shield Firewall
To uninstall Shield Firewall, perform the following:
- On the Windows taskbar, Click Start
Settings or Control Panel
- In the Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs

In the list of currently installed programs, click on
- Do one of the following:
- In Windows 2000/ME, click Change/Remove
- In Windows 98, Click Add/Remove
- In Windows XP, click Change/Remove
- The Shield Firewall has been successfully removed window appears
- Restart your computer (recommend).
